Happy Birthday Ranbir Kapoor | 8 stellar performances by the Sanju actor

From Sid to Barfi to Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor has outdone himself with every role, even when the films failed to return the gesture.

Team CE
Wake Up Sid | Sid Mehra lands up at his parent’s house by mistake. Instead of turning away, he eavesdrops on his mom learning English. Ranbir’s silent wonder fills up Ayan Mukerji’s tender debut.
Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year | As Harpreet Singh Bedi, Ranbir infused Shimit Amin’s corporate comedy with a searching innocence. The film was a tough sell, but all kickbacks to Ranbir.
Rajneeti | Prakash Jha’s Mahabharata parable set in the heartland featured a thrilling ensemble. As political scion Samar Pratap, Ranbir held his own against fine performers like Ajay Devgan and Manoj
Rockstar | Imtiaz Ali’s romantic musical was digressive and sketchy, yet held in place by an unshakeable central turn. Dare we hail Ranbir the lizard king of acting?
Barfi | One from the heart. Few films have found Ranbir at his whimsical best as Anurag Basu’s Barfi. The quieter scenes sting beyond the comic set pieces.
Tamasha | Ranbir Kapoor does not play against type. Rather, he finds new inlets each time. Take Tamasha’s Dev Sahni, a deeply internalized rendition of a seemingly dusted character.
Bombay Velvet | Anurag Kashyap's gangster epic was disappointingly toothless. But Johnny Balraj shined through, brawling, fighting, bruising… chasing after the big league.
Sanju | Another mediocre film carried by a committed performer. His scenes with Vicky Kaushal’s Kamli are a cut above. Sanju is self-centred, but Ranbir knows better than to shut him off to friendship
