From Baba to Lal Salaam, 13 times Superstar Rajinikanth sent his fans into a frenzy with his first glimpses

Coinciding with the release of Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam, we take a trip down the memory lane.

Three years after Padaiyappa, Baba was announced. The nonchalant stance, looking back at one’s raised foot, and the unforgettable ‘Baba’ mudra made it the rage.

For a movie that never got made, the first look of Jaggubhai went viral. The hooded Superstar with a visible stubble, and a machine gun by his side sent the curiosity levels skyrocketing.

After the Baba debacle, all eyes were on Rajini for his choice of Chandramukhi as his next project. The first poster from the film showed a youthful Rajini, complete with coolers and designer wear.

One of the best Rajini FLs ever. The white shirt, blue jean and swank coolers sat perfectly on the Superstar. The bottom angle cut was just the foil that his larger than life image needed.

Despite Rajinikanth having only an extended cameo in Kuselan, the first posters of the film focussed only on the Superstar, clad in royal attire, which probably worked against the film's business.

Rajini was seen acing the Nataraja stance in the FL of Kochadaiiyaan, India's first motion-capture film. Rajini's depiction as Lord Shiva - the cosmic dancer who destroys evil - was talked about.

Rajini sported a clean-shaven look for the 1st time after Thillu Mullu for the FL of Enthiran, India's most anticipated film then. The image of the robot with a rose was said to be a hint at the plot.

The Superstar looked all stylish and youthful in L:ingaa's FL poster, which also had a temple in the background. The poster, which didn't reveal much about the film, received overwhelming response.

Two FL posters of Rajini in different looks were unveiled for Ranjith's Kabali. In the first, he was seen sitting cross-legged in a stylish grey suit with the Malaysian twin towers in the backdrop.

In the second FL poster, Rajini is portrayed as the local Malaysian don Kabaleeshwaran, who wields power over several different aspects of the city.

In one of the FL posters of Kaala - Ranjith's second collaboration with the Superstar, Rajinikanth sported a fierce expression - the kind only he could pull off.

Sporting a pair of sunglasses and a salt-and- pepper look, the Superstar, seated on a Mahendra jeep, oozed the classic Rajinikanth suave in the second FL of Kaala.

Rajini was seen flaunting his trademark gait, with an all-knowing smile on his lips, a well-groomed beard and the famous unruly-yet-majestic mop of hair, holding a candelabra in Petta's FL.

Rajini was seen in an uber cool avatar - with a smart cardigan and scarf around the neck - wielding the candelabra as a weapon. in Petta's motion poster.

Darbar's FL poster showed a Rajinikanth as a cop, surrounded by properties related to the police department, there by confirming that the film will indeed be a cop thriller, as previously speculated.

Darbar's second poster, in a callback to the iconic shirtless pose in Padaiyappa, features a black vest-clad Rajini lifting an iron bar, flexing his muscles in the backdrop of a boxing ring.

Although a cameo role, Rajinikanth's look as Moideen Bhai from Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam was a show-stopper. Donning the traditional skull cap, the poster features the actor's stylish walk.
