Before he went on to pursue a full-time career in playwriting, he worked at Sundaram-Clayton Limited

He was an organ donor and was actively involved in funding heart surgeries and kidney transplants from the proceeds of his shows
He received the 'Kalaimamani' award for excellence in the field of arts and literature from the Tamil Nadu state government
He was awarded the professional excellence award from the Governor of Maryland,USA for his contributions to Tamil literature and fine arts
