Maa Behen (Netflix, June 4)
The dark, hide-the-body comedy starring Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri will begin streaming tomorrow. Directed by Suresh Triveni, who has co-written the script with Pooja Tolani, the film largely unfolds in the quirky household of Rekha, who lives with her two daughters Jaya (Triptii) and Sushma (Dharna). Rekha’s fling with her neighbour Gupta Ji (Ravi Kishan) takes a deadly turn when the latter dies in their house — now, its upon the mother and daughter two to evade the murder allegations, by hook or crook.
Brown (ZEE5, June 5)
The upcoming investigative thriller series, directed by Abhinay Deo, marks a major comeback for 90s icon Karisma Kapoor, who will be seen in a completely different avatar.
Also starring Surya Sharma and Jisshu Sengupta, Brown tells the story of Rita Brown (Karisma), a disgraced cop with a haunting past and buried guilt, who is assigned a high-profile murder case. As she hunts down the killer in association with her junior Arjun Sinha (Surya Sharma), Rita realises that there is more to the surface than meets the eye.
Gullak S5 (SonyLiv, June 5)
Season 5 of the much-acclaimed TVF series will begin streaming this Friday. In the new season, Gullak promises to be explores the themes of belongingness and outgrowing one’s roots as the Mishra family will be seen having upgrades and updates of all sorts while it tries to keep up with changing times. Annu will battle the familiar pressure of proving himself and the family, while Aman returns quieter than before, carrying secrets of his own. On the other hand, Shanti unexpectedly finds herself enjoying a little spotlight, thanks to the online popularity of “Bittu Ki Mummy,” in a world suddenly obsessed with being seen.
New cast members include Helly Shah and Anant V Joshi who, playing Annu, replaces Vaibhav Raj Gupta.
The Pyramid Scheme (Prime Video, June 5)
Starring Paramvir Singh Cheema, Ranvir Shorey, Aanjjan Srivastav, and Alfia Jafry in the lead cast, The Pyramid Scheme revolves around a middle-class family where Goldy (Paramvir) and Manoj Srivastava (Ranvir), two men with different aspirations who get pulled into the alluring world of ‘sapno ka business model’ that is based on pyramid marketing. However, the higher Goldy and Manoj climb this pyramid of success, the shakier the ground beneath them gets.
The TVF series also stars Shekhar Suman as the alluring marketing genius.
Made In India: A Titan Story (Amazon MX Player, June 3)
Headlined by Jim Sarbh, Made in India: A Titan Story is largely set in the 1980s, promising to tell the story of Xerxes Desai, a Tata Press employee who ends up heading India’s first start-up success as his pursuits lead to the birth of Titan watches and its iconic brands, in the face of countless bureaucratic hurdles, market challenges, and personal sacrifices.
The series also features Naseeruddin Shah, who plays JRD Tata.
