Pari Elavazhagan's sophomore film Anbe Diana is finally heading to OTT, a month after its release in theatres. Directed and starring himself in the lead role, the romantic comedy, the film was made on a modest budget like his first film Jama. It eventually went on to make a strong mark at the box office, thanks to its positive word-of-mouth reviews from audiences and critics.
The film stars Pari Elavazhagan as a happy-go-lucky youngster who gets into a romantic relationship with an Anglo-Indian woman (Ramya Ranganathan). Pari and Ramya's characters are caught between two families whose elders force them to adopt practises from their religion. His mother wants Ramya to take on Hindu practises, whereas her father wants him to choose Christian rituals for the marriage.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film reads, "The film is a simple, straightforward love story that never takes itself too seriously. Even so, it flirts with a rather uncommon rom-com idea: not knowing how to process acceptance/love, and the accompanying anxiety at the prospect of leaving your comfort zone, no matter how hard it is to put up with. It is a remarkably commonplace feeling that films seldom explore."
Anbe Diana also stars Parithabangal-fame Gopi, Roja Selvamani, and Chetan in prominent roles.
On the technical front, the film has cinematographer Shelley Calist, composer Bharath Sankar, editor Partha MA, and art director Mahendran. It is produced by Yuvaraj Ganesan of Million Dollar Studios in association with Sathya Karikalan of Neo Castle Creations.
Anbe Diana is set to stream on Sony LIV from August 28.
