Greta Lee and Wagner Moura's characters face an imminent danger of being unable to get out of their house with their kids in what turns out to be the terrifying time of their lives. The first look from The Last House, directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, Lupin) for Netflix, reveals eerie images of the family desperate to find a way of their misery.
The project was previously titled 11817 before being renamed The Last House. The film also stars Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Alexander Noah Sosnowski and Gabriel Barbosa.
According to the director, "The Last House challenges the idea of a safe haven, turning a family home into a hostile environment where survival demands unity. This is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare, pushing them to their limits to protect each other and exposing the fragility of security — and the desperate fight to reclaim it."
The plotline for the sci-fi thriller reveals that a looming presence is preventing them from escaping. With resources running low, the family must find a way to save themselves.
Leterrier, also known for directing Fast X and Now You See Me, helmed the film from a script by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Dora and the Lost City of Gold).
The film is backed by Chernin Entertainment and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Leterrier producing alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kori Adelson and Oly Obst. Executive producers include Thomas Benski, Cecile Gaget, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher and Damian Anderson.
The Last House is set for release on Netflix on August 7.
