Netflix recently announced that singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will team up with Philip Barantini for a new musical experience titled ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran. Barantini recently won an Emmy for his work as a director on Netflix's Adolescence.
Like Adolescence, ONE SHOT will be shot in one single, continuous take, following Sheeran through New York City, USA. The experience, directed by Barantini, will follow Sheeran as he traverses through New York playing his greatest hits at various iconic locations, all while interacting with fans, performing impromptu gigs at platforms and subways. ONE SHOT will be produced by Ben Winston and Fulwell Entertainment. ONE SHOT will premiere on Netflix on November 21.
ONE SHOT will not be the first time that Barantini has employed the single take technique. Apart from Adolescence Barantini has used the take in the 2021 film Boiling Point, which was his first collaboration with Stephen Graham before Adolescence. The film is set in a upmarket restaurant's kitchen during a busy evening. A follow-up series of the same name, premiered in 2023.
Barantini will also serve as the director of Netflix's Enola Holmes 3, starring Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character. He takes over the directing duties from Harry Bradbeer who directed the first two films.
