Mugen Rao’s latest outing in theatres, Jinn – The Pet, will premiere on Sun NXT on June 20, the streamer announced on Saturday. Penned and helmed by TR Bala, the film hit theatres on May 30 and opened to underwhelming reviews.
In Jinn – The Pet, Mugen plays Sakthi, who brings home a jinn spirit, mentioned in the Quran, as a lucky charm. However, when Sakthi unleashes the spirit from domestication, it causes chaos in his home and life.
An excerpt from CE’s review of Jinn – The Pet reads, “The film is in constant tonal confusion and settles for something predictable towards the end with convenient writing doing a disservice to even the relatively better parts.”
The film also stars Bhavya Trikha, Balasaravanan, Imaan Annachi, Vadivukarasi, Vinodhini, George Vijay and Rithvik. The film’s technical crew includes DOP Arjun Raja, editor Deepak and music composer duo Vivek-Mervin.
