Huku's original drama series Black Cake is not to be renewed for another season. This comes on the lines of Hulu cancelling another series, the comedy drama UnPrisoned.

Black Cake is based on Charmaine Wilkerson's novel of the same name and stars Chipo Chung, Mia Isaac, Adrienne Warren, Ashley Thomas, and Glynn Turman. It revolves around two siblings who learn about their dead mother's past through the recordings she has left for them. There are hints of a murder mystery that shock the children and make them question their own origins.

Black Cake has Oprah Winfrey, Marissa Jo Cerar, Aleksander Krutainis, Carla Gardini, and Brian Morewitz serving as executive producers. The first season premiered in November 2023 and had 8 episodes, which received positive reviews. Netflix was originally in the bid for the series, which was later outbid by Hulu in 2021.
