OTT giant Amazon Prime Video has announced that streaming rights of Gangs - Kuruthi Punal, a Tamil webseries, has been bagged by it.

The series, touted to be a period action drama, also stars Sathyaraj, Nasser, Nimisha Sajayan and Easwari Rao in crucial roles.

According to the streaming platform, the synopsis of the series is, "In this period action drama, a tale of revenge fuels a bloody power struggle within the first organized gang of a port city. Replete with smugglers, dealers, film stars, aristocrats and politicians, this larger than life series weaves a narrative of ambition, betrayal, and a relentless struggle for power."

Interestingly, the series' tagline Kuruthi Punal has been taken from the 1995 actioner starring Kamal Haasan and Arjun.

Director Soundarya Rajinikanth has donned the hat of a creative producer in the series. Gangs is written and directed by Noah.

The series' streaming date is yet to be announced.
