Netflix sets premiere date for The Decameron

The series consists of eight episodes and is based on 14th-century Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio's eponymous short stories

On Monday, Netflix unveiled the teaser trailer and announced the release date for their upcoming original period dramedy series, The Decameron. The series is all set to premiere on the streamer on July 25.

The series consists of eight episodes and is based on 14th-century Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio's short stories titled The Decameron. The show is about a group of nobles from Florentine, as they secure themselves from a ravaging plague, by retreating to a villa in the Tuscany countryside.

The Decameron has Kathleen Jordan as the creator, with Jenji Kohan as the executive producer. Kathleen will also be the showrunner and executive producer along with Black McCormick and Tara Herrmann. The first four episodes of The Decameron will be helmed by Michael Uppendahl.

The cast comprises of Zosia Mamet, Tanya Reynolds, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Karan Gill, Amar Chadha-Patel, Leila Farzad, Jessica Plummer, and Douggie McMeekin, among others. The technical crew of The Decameron consists of Luca Tranchino as the production designer, with Uliva Pizzetti and Gabriella Pescucci as costume designers.
