First look images of Thelma the Unicorn out

Helmed by Lynn Wang and Jared Hess, the film will premiere on Netflix on May 17

Netflix released the first images from their upcoming animated fantasy, Thelma the Unicorn, on Saturday. The film is inspired by the eponymous book written by Aaron Blabey. 

Thelma the Unicorn was first announced in June 2019. It will now stream on the platform on May 17. 

Brittany Howard, Will Forte, Jemaine Clement, Edi Patterson, Maliaka Mitchell, Ally Dixon, Fred Armisen, Zach Galifianakis and Jon Heder round out the ensemble voice cast of Thelma the Unicorn. Howard will play the titular Thelma in the film. 

A modest pony, Thelma is ambitious about music stardom. As fate turns her into a unicorn, resulting in a fling into worldwide fame, it brings new challenges to the table in her pursuit to achieve her dream. 

Lynn Wang and Jared Hess, known for Unikitty! and Napolean Dynamite are the makers of Thelma the Unicorn.  John Powell, known for How To Train Your Dragon has handled the musical score for the upcoming film.
