Apple TV+ cancels Schmigadoon!

The musical comedy series stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key in lead roles

Schmigadoon!, the musical comedy series, has been cancelled by Apple TV+ after running for two seasons, the series' creator Cinco Paul announced on Thursday. 

In a long note, he wrote, “I am sad to share that Apple will not be moving forward with season three of Schmigadoon!” The first episode of season 2 premiered on the platform on April 7 last year, and the finale episode came out on May 5. The note further read, “The season is written (including 25 new songs), but we unfortunately won’t be making it. Such is life.”

The series stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key in lead roles. Season two of Schmigadoon! saw the return of the leads alongside actors like Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit. 

The second season of Schmigadoon! had Josh (Key) and Melissa (Strong) in Schmicago, the reimagined world of the ’60s and ’70s musicals. Schmigadoon! is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
