The filming for the second season of Amazon miniTV's Gutar Gu has begun, the streamer announced on Thursday. Helmed by Saqib Pandor, the series is bankrolled by Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment. 

The series stars Vishesh Bansal and Ashlesha Thakur as the lead couple, Anuj and Ritu. Ashlesha Thakur is known for her performance as Manoj Bajpayee’s daughter Dhriti Tiwari in The Family Man and Vishesh Bansal is famous as the lead of the series, Yeh Meri Family. 

A coming-of-age story, Gutar Gu is about teenage love and the issues that affect relationships. Season 1 saw Ritu and Anuj manoeuvre through complications in their relationship, being faced with difficulties in teenage love. The upcoming second season will feature their journeys ahead, amidst new challenges, managing life, careers, and expectations from each other.

Speaking about the second season, producer Guneet Monga said in an official statement, “The Story of Gutar Gu, is very close to our hearts at Sikhya. After an outpour of love for Ritu and Anuj’s short story in GuptGyaan, to come back together with phenomenal Director Saqib Pandor and explore the story in a series format was truly an exciting opportunity. With so much love and support for Season 1, we thought it was only best to see where Ritu and Anuj’s love takes them next.”

Further, director Saqib said, “Gutar Gu started as an innocent story of two young lovers in Bhopal, but the magnitude of success and love we have received for the show and its characters on Amazon miniTV has truly empowered us to dream of another season. That’s the best reward one can get as a filmmaker, where audiences are eager to know what’s next for their beloved characters. We’re ready for this love story, to go the distance!

While a release date is yet to be announced, the second season of Gutar Gu will premiere on Amazon miniTV before the end of 2024.
