Netflix unveils first look of One Hundred Years Of Solitude

Earlier, we reported that Netflix is all set to adapt Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez's literary masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude into a Spanish-language original series. On Wednesday, the streamer unveiled a first look video of the upcoming series.

"One Hundred Years of Solitude is the story of the Buendía family, tormented by madness, impossible love, war, and the fear of a curse that condemns them to solitude for a hundred years in the mythical town of Macondo," reads the official logline of the series.

The first-look teaser features Aureliano Babilonia reading from a mysterious journal with Sanskrit engravings. The scene then shifts to Macondo, where we see Colonel Aureliano Buendía facing execution. In a flashback triggered by this event, he recalls a childhood adventure with his father.

The ensemble cast of One Hundred Years of Solitude, includes, Claudio Cataño, Jerónimo Barón, Marco González, Leonardo Soto, Susana Morales, Ella Becerra, Carlos Suaréz, Moreno Borja, and Santiago Vásquez.

The first season of One Hundred Years of Solitude will be directed by Alex García López and Laura Mora. The film's production design is handled by Oscar-winner Eugenio Caballero and his frequent collaborator Bárbara Enríquez.

The technical crew includes director of photography Paulo Perez and costume designer Catherine Rodriguez. Marquez's sons Rodrigo Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia Barcha will serve as executive producers of One Hundred Years of Solitude, which is set mostly in Colombia. Writers of the series are José Rivera, Natalia Santa, Camila Brugés, María Camila Arias and Albatrós González.
