Guillaume Canet's Netflix thriller Ad Vitam goes on floors

Netflix has announced the start of principal photography on action thriller Ad Vitam led by French star Guillaume Canet.

Directed by Rodolphe Lauga, known for It's Complicated, the shooting of the action film has commenced in Paris and the streaming giant is planning to release the film worldwide in 2025.

The official logline reads: “After escaping an attempted murder, Franck Lazareff must find his wife Leo, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is caught up by his past and plunged into a state affair that is beyond him.”

Apart from Canet, the film also stars Stéphane Caillard, Nassim Lyes, Zita Hanrot and Alexis Manenti.

Canet and Lauga collaborated on the screenplay of for the film alongside David Corona, with the actor bankrolling the film alongside Jean Cottin for Cabanes.

Guillaume Canet recently directed himself as Gallic comic book hero Asterix in the live action feature Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom and appeared in the French thriller Breaking Point from director Yvan Attal. The multi-hyphenate has directed several films, including the 2006 crime thriller Tell No One and the 2010 dramedy Little White Lies.
