Actor Aditi Rao’s character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar was introduced via a video shared by the makers on Wednesday. Aditi essays the role of Bibbojaan, a courtesan, in the series.

In the video, Aditi can be seen taking off her ghunghroo. “On one side, there are discussions of our beauty,” a voiceover in chaste Urdu ensues. “The sound of the ghunghroo.” She takes out a revolver, places it close to her heart and looks into the mirror. “On the other hand, there is the call for freedom… Bibbojaan knows how to make a weapon out of her looks.”

Apart from Aditi, the show also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Sehgal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. It will also mark the comebacks of Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman and his son Adhyayan Suman.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar will premiere on Netflix on May 1.
