As Season five of Netflix's much-celebrated series Stranger Things is set to go on floors in early January, speculations are rife that filmmaker Frank Darabont, who is best known for helming the classic The Shawshank Redemption, will don the director's hat again after a brief hiatus for the upcoming season.

According to reports, Frank Darabont, who hasn't had any feature credits since 2007, will be directing two of the total eight episodes of the final season of Stranger Things. The makers are yet to make a confirmation.

Stranger Things is created by Matt and Ross Duffer. In the first season, they directed six episodes, while Shawn Levy, who is also the show's Executive Producer, directed two episodes. For the second season, Andrew Stanton and Rebecca Thomas joined the director's team, along with the Duffers and Levy. In the third and fourth seasons, Uta Briesewitz and Nimrod Antal also directed two episodes each, in addition to Levy and the show's creators.

Apart from Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont's other feature credits include The Mist, The Majestic, The Green Mile, The Woman in the Room, The Walking Dead and Mob City, among others.
