The first trailer of Self Reliance starring Jake Johnson and Anna Kendrick in lead roles, was unveiled by Hulu on Tuesday. The film marks the directorial debut of Jake, who is known for his stint as Nick Miller in the popular Zooey Deschanel sitcom New Girl

The trailer of the comedy-thriller starts by establishing Jake to be the perfect candidate for a game show. The show tasks him with surviving from 'hunters' who are on the run to kill him, for 30 days. The only way he can survive is by not being alone. Eventually, he pairs up with Anna Kendrick, who is also a contestant, and together they work to win the contest.

Andy Samberg is also a part of the cast, and he plays himself in the film. Christopher Lloyd, Mary Holland, Biff Wiff, Natalie Morales, Emily Hampshire, Boban Marjanović, GaTa and Wayne Brady round out the cast of Self Reliance

Self Reliance is produced by MRC, Andy's The Lonely Island and Walcott Productions. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 11, 2023. It is all set to premiere on Hulu on January 12, 2024.
