Mamitha Baiju joins Deepika Padukone-Alia Bhatt in rare list of Indian actresses with 200-crore grossers

Mamitha Baiju's recently released films have earned her a place in an exclusive record list, alongside Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt

Mamitha Baiju has been having a dream year in terms of box office collection. Her recent films Vishwanath and Sons with Suriya and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit with Nivin Pauly have grossed more than 200 crore from theatres worldwide, according to trade reports. Previously, her film Jana Nayagan with Vijay reportedly earned more than 300 crore at the global box office. Thus, Mamitha Baiju has entered a list of Indian actresses to have three films with 200 crore-plus gross collections in the same year, a compilation that also features Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt.

It is impressive that all of her three 200-crore-plus-grossing films hit theatres in a span of around 25 days this year. Mamitha has also earned critical appreciation for her performances, especially in Vishwanath and Sons and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.

In 2013, Deepika starred in films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, each of which earned over 200 crore at the global box office, according to reports. Reportedly, while Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, and Chennai Express, also featuring Shah Rukh Khan, earned more than 300 crore, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela with Ranveer Singh minted around 220 crore from theatres.

In 2022, Alia Bhatt starred in films such as RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, each of which became major hits at the box office. Reportedly, while SS Rajamouli's RRR, also starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, earned over 1200 crore, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva minted more than 400 crore and Gangubai Kathiawadi with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali grossed around 210 crore. Alia earned critical appreciation for her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Coming back to Mamitha Baiju, the actor also had Kara with Dhanush this year. Her upcoming projects include Irandu Vaanam, Hello Dear, and a film with actor Ashwath Marimuthu and producer Pradeep Ranganathan.
