Nearly two months after its theatrical release, the makers of Dulquer Salmaan's I'm Game have announced plans for its digital premiere. The film will start streaming on JioHotstar from November 6. It will be available in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
I'm Game hit screens amidst high expectations, especially since it was Dulquer's first Malayalam release in almost three years. However, the film opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences, ultimately failing to make an impact at the box office.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, I'm Game is a revenge thriller set against the backdrop of gambling and cricket betting. Nahas himself wrote the story for the film, with a screenplay by Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu, and Ismail Aboobacker.
The film has Dulquer playing a gambler whose life turns topsy-turvy after a car accident. Antony Varghese Pepe also plays a prominent role as a professional cricketer. The cast also includes Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt, Jayasudha and Shyamaprasad, among others.
While the film's supernatural angle impressed many, its eventual descent into an old-fashioned revenge narrative was largely criticised. Dulquer, who also produced the film, took ownership of the underwhelming box-office run, stating, "If you want to blame someone, you can blame me."
Dulquer is yet to officially announce his next Malayalam film. Meanwhile, he has the Telugu film Aakasamlo Oka Tara set for release on November 20.
