In December 2024, we reported about Jithu Madhavan doing a film with Mohanlal, with Sree Gokulam Movies being attached to it as a producer. However, in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the Romancham and Aavesham director revealed that his proposed film has been dropped.

When asked about whether it could be made with another actor, Jithu shared, "When I write a screenplay with Mohanlal in mind, I cannot suddenly switch to somebody else and write it for them."

Explaining the situation, the filmmaker added, "The number of days of shoot was too much. I tried to bring it down to a normal number of days, but it is not possible with that movie. It requires several days of shoot, including action sequences, and Mohanlal sir has a busy schedule. This is my understanding of the situation."

It is worth noting that when Mohanlal recently shared a list of directors he would work with in the near future, Jithu's name was missing from it. Instead, the list includes the likes of Vishnu Mohan, Anoop Sathyan, Priyadarshan, Dileesh Pothan, Sathyan Anthikad, Jude Anthany Joseph, and Jeethu Joseph. These films are at various stages of production, and the project with Vishnu Mohan has been titled Operation Ganga. Making the announcement, Mohanlal added, "Exciting stories, exciting journeys and some very special filmmakers."

Despite the lack of Jithu Madhavan's name on the list, there was still some hope of the film getting made, because even actor-director Anoop Menon's name was not on it. However, Jithu's latest revelation has ended all hopes of the much-awaited collaboration.

Speaking of collaborations, Jithu is gearing up for the November 06 release of Scene, his first film in Tamil, starring Suriya in the lead role.
