Earlier, we reported about director Tharun Moorthy reuniting with his Thudarum star Mohanlal for a film, titled Athimanoharam. The project, which marks Mohanlal's 366th film, stars the superstar as a police officer named TS Lovelajan. There has been much discourse about whether the film will have a lot of action, similar to Thudarum.

On Saturday, Tharun Moorthy addressed some of these rumours about the film. A social media user told the filmmaker that he has heard that Athimanoharam has more action as compared to Thudarum and that everyone has this expectation. In response, Tharun said that it is not an action-oriented film and that he decided to do it because it is not similar to Thudarum. "So avoid comparisons," the filmmaker clarified.

Another user asked what the genre of the film is, and in reply, Tharun called it a "police procedural and family drama". Athimanoharam marks Mohanlal's comeback to a conventional police role after a long time. Although he plays investigators in films such as 12th Man and Monster, the last time the actor donned the police uniform and played a conventional cop is in 2013's Red Wine. The upcoming film also stars Meera Jasmine in the role of Lovelajan's wife.

The film is directed by Tharun Moorthy from a screenplay by Ratheesh Ravi, who is known for titles such as Pullikkaran Staraa, Ishq, Adi and Maharani. It is produced by Ashiq Usman through his eponymous banner. On the technical front, the film has composer Jakes Bejoy, cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor Vivek Harshan, and sound designer Vishnu Govind.

Recently, team Athimanoharam celebrated Mohanlal's birthday on set, and the superstar took part in the birthday celebrations of Tharun's son.
