After 2013's Drishyam, few would have imagined a second part to what felt like a complete film. However, Drishyam 2 came almost a decade later, living up to the hype surrounding the film. Back then, many compared it to the release of Godfather Part II after the first part in Francis Ford Coppola's franchise appeared complete. Now, ahead of the release of Drishyam 3, Mohanlal has teased a fourth and a fifth film in the franchise.

Speaking at a recent event promoting the film, Mohanlal quipped, "I have asked for Georgekutty to be saved multiple times, but he is still not saved. So you can expect a Drishyam 4 also." The actor also suggested that he did not make the remark in jest, saying, "This is not a joke. Let people watch the film and let them decide whether we should do a sequel, like four or five."

Mohanlal added that Drishyam 3 producer and his longtime collaborator, Antony Perumbavoor, even has plans to make even a fifth part in the franchise before the fourth instalment. Recently, actor Esther Anil also expressed her desire to star in more sequels in the franchise.

Drishyam 3's cast includes Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Murali Gopy, Siddique, and Asha Sharath, among others. The film is presented by Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios and Panorama Studios. Earlier this Saturday, the makers released a trailer for the film, building further anticipation for it and hinting at a darker outing in the franchise as compared to the previous two entries. Jeethu has revealed multiple times that while the film has some surprise elements, it mostly explores Georgekutty's emotional space following the events of the second part. The Drishyam 3 trailer, too, hints at an emotional family drama.
