The trailer for director Jeethu Joseph's film Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, is here. At a promotional event for the film, Jeethu spoke about what to expect from it. The filmmaker said that the upcoming film explores Georgekutty's (Mohanlal) emotional state after the events of the second part in the Drishyam franchise.
He said that unlike in the first two films, Georgekutty does not know who is after him int he third part. Jeethu said, "The film concentrates more on Georgekutty's emotions, especially his fear. Why? Because, different from the first and the second films, this time around, Georgekutty is unaware of whether somebody is chasing him and if so, who it is. In the earlier two parts, he has a clear idea about who chases him: police and a different family."
Jeethu also discussed how Drishyam 3 is connected to the second part. At the end of the second part, Murali Gopy's character says that Georgekutty's punishment lies in the fact that he is being kept waiting for police's next moves against him. "He is making that preparation, but even he is not sure whether the cops will come. He is groping in the dark here, and it is the most dangerous situation," the filmmaker said.
He also revealed that the upcoming film has some surprises along the way. "But that is not what Drishyam 3 is all about," he said before reiterating that people should not expect the usual twists and turns from the franchise in the next film. "Do not expect anything beyond that, or else, you will get disappointed," the director said.
The upcoming film also stars Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, and Asha Sharath. It is produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas and presented by Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios and Panorama Studios. The film is slated to hit theatres on May 21, coinciding with Mohanlal's birthday.
