Actor Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph's much-awaited film Drishyam 3 is set for its release on May 21, coinciding with the superstar's birthday. There is much anticipation around the film, as it is set to continue the story of Georgekutty and his family after he succeeds in hiding evidence that would have shown him and his family guilty in the Varun murder case. While the second part in the franchise played out as a police procedural with an element of mystery in it, Jeethu has already revealed that the third film is a family drama with no suspense in it.
On Monday night, the makers revealed that the third instalment in the Drishyam franchise is set to have its first show in the United States of America. "Georgekutty makes his first move... In the USA. Drishyam 3 world's first show begins in the USA, premieres from 7:30 pm PST on May 20."
The announcement comes not long after the release of the Drishyam 3 teaser. The film also brings back Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Murali Gopy, Siddique, and Asha Sharath, among others. The teaser hints at a storyline where Georgekutty feels remorse for his past actions. At one point, he tells another character that he acted with no second thought about the repercussions and that he is now living with fear in his mind.
The core technicians of Drishyam 2 are also back for the third part, including composer Anil Johnson (who also worked on the second part), cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, and editor Vinayak VS. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas and presented by Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios and Panorama Studios. Meanwhile, Mohanlal can be seen playing a cameo in the recent release Patriot, alongside Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban, among others.
