Earlier, we reported that Jayasurya is set to comeback to his Aadu franchise as the popular character Shaji Pappan with the upcoming third instalment. In one of the promotional interviews for director Midhun Manuel Thomas's Aadu 3, the actor teased a fourth chapter in the franchise.
In his recent interview with Friday Film House, the actor was asked whether audiences can expect Aadu 4. In response, the actor said, "They can expect it," although he did not confirm its development.
The franchise started with 2015's Aadu, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas and featuring a motley group of quirky characters, played by Jayasurya, Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Sunny Wayne, Indrans, Dharmajan Bolgatty, and Vijay Babu, among others. While the 2015 film did not perform as well as expected at the box office, it gained a cult following after its release over home video platforms. This paved the way for a second part in 2017, and that film capitalised on the popularity of its predecessor and became a massive hit.
The third part is set to release in theatres almost nine years after the second instalment. Recently, the film's makers confirmed that it would have a two-part release. With the makers already calling the two-part film 'One Last Ride,' it remains to be seen whether Aadu 4 will even materialise, as Jayasurya recently promised.
Besides Jayasurya, the film also features franchise veterans such as Saiju Kurup, Sunny Wayne, Vinayakan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vijay Babu, and Indrans. Produced by Vijay Babu, Aadu 3 is slated for a March 19 release. Also set to hit theatres on the same day are Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, and Pawan Kalyan's Ustaad Bhagat Singh, among other titles.
