Sanju Samson is the man of the moment in Kerala thanks to his Player of the Tournament award-winning performance in the recently concluded T20I World Cup. Even amidst the tournament and after its conclusion, netizens have been aggressively promoting Sanju and his affinity for cinema. Take, for instance, the upcoming film Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan and featuring a star-studded ensemble cast.

Speaking recently about the film, Sanju Samson said, "As everyone, I am very excited. I think that combination (of Mohanlal and Mammootty) does not happen very often." He went on to add, "The best people are involved in the movie. I think it is a great opportunity. As all the Malayalis and all movie lovers in the country, I am very excited to see what is coming."

Patriot reunites Mohanlal and Mammootty for the first time after 2013's Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty. Interestingly, the 2013 film only has a brief scene where the two big stars of Malayalam cinema come together.

They have more considerable screen space together in 2008's multistarrer Twenty:20, directed by Joshiy, and Patriot is expected to have them share a greater amount of screen time.

There has been some uncertainty over the film's April 23 release, following a trade dispute between its producer Anto Joseph and exhibitors in Kerala. Even amidst the uncertainty, the film's makers reinforced the said release date while dropping a video showing the making of an action sequence, featuring Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Kunchacko Boban, and new character posters for the female stars in the film.

Besides the aforementioned actors, it also stars Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Revathi, Darshana Rajendran, Grace Antony, Sreeparvathy, Geethi Sangeetha, and Zarin Shihab, among others.

Produced by Anto alongside KG Anil Kumar, the film's core technicians include music director Sushin Shyam, cinematographer Manush Nandan, and editors Mahesh Narayanan himself and Rahul Radhakrishnan. Notably, as many as four stunt directors are part of the film: Dhilip Subbarayan, Stunt Silva, Mafia Sasi, and Riyas- Habib.
