Recently, we reported about Khushbu Sundar and Sundar C's daughter Avantika making her acting debut with a Malayalam film titled Aarambham. Interestingly, the film also marks the debut of its director Sujesh Annie Eapen, who is directing it from a screenplay by Joselet Joseph and Ajoy Thampi. In an exclusive conversation with CE, Khushbu talked about her daughter's first film as an actor.
Khushboo said that she did not give any inputs to her daughter about acting or how to choose her first film. "We have a production house of our own. If we wanted to introduce her, we would have done it ourselves," she said.
The actor-politician also emphasised the importance of her daughter carving her own path in cinema. "She heard the story and made the decision on her own. Sometimes, she would consult with me only if she has a doubt," Khushbu said about her daughter.
The actor also said that her daughter wants to pursue characters in 'content-oriented' screenplays rather than 'masala heroine' roles. "She told me, 'Malayalam cinema is definitely number one in content-oriented cinema. I like the mother-daughter subject a lot.' And I told her to do it without any doubt."
The actor-politician added that she did not attend the film's pooja ceremony or visit its set, despite being proximate to it. Talking about whether Avantika has taken inspiration from her, Khushbu Sundar said, "No, she has her own style." She asked people not to compare her with her daughter in terms of acting, dance, and so forth. Khushbu said, "Why such comparisons? Let Avantika be Avantika. Why should she be like me?"
Coming back to Aarambham, the film stars Avantika as Arathi and is produced by Studio Bellarooh. It also stars Saritha, Althaf Salim, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Krishna Sankar, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Sunil Sugatha, Viji Venkatesh, Noby Marcos, and Rajesh Sharma, among others.
