It has been seven years since the release of Kakshi: Amminippilla, directed by Dinjith Ayyathan. Starring Asif Ali, Basil Joseph, Fara Shibla, and Ahmed Sidhique, the film marked Dinjith's debut as a director. Earlier this Sunday, the filmmaker shared a post on Instagram where he recalled his years-long struggle before making his directorial debut.

"Today marks 7 years since Kakshi: Amminippilla released. It took me almost nine years to reach my first film. Like every filmmaker, I also have my own version of struggle, waiting, hope, confusion, and small victories. But when I look back now, everything feels like a sweet memory," the filmmaker shared.

Kakshi: Amminippilla was reasonably well-received by critics and considered a commercial success at the time of its release. In our review, Sajin Shriijth wrote, "Kakshi: Amminipilla is a progressive film, sure, but it also plays things too safe. I found its eagerness to please both sides to be one of its minor drawbacks. It's the "OK Kanmani" problem. It's also not very subtle when delivering its messages. But given the seriousness of the issue it addresses and also the fact that its voice has to reach not just the A and B centres, but also C, these flaws are acceptable. It's a light-hearted entertainer that makes all the necessary statements."

Since his debut film, Dinjith Ayyathan has earned acclaim for his work on films such as Kishkindha Kaandam and Eko. Kishkindha Kaandam reunited Dinjith with Asif Ali, and it is regarded as one of the best films in the actor and director's career. On the other hand, Kishkindha Kaandam and Eko brought Dinjith to national spotlight, earning him appreciation from celebrities outside the Malayalam film industry, including Dhanush and Prabhas.
