Balan: The Boy draws praise from Lijomol Jose, Dinjith Ayyathan and more

Director Chidambaram's new film Balan: The Boy hit theatres earlier this Friday. The film stars Adhisheshan, Farzana Palathingal, Muhammed Zinaan, Dolly June, Jean Paul Lal, and Beena Antony, among others. It has already garnered much appreciation from film fraternity members and the audience. Recently, Priyadarshan called it the best Malayalam film of the past two years. The latest to appreciate it are Lijomol Jose, Eko and Kishkindha Kaandam director Dinjith Ayyathan, and actor cum ad filmmaker Prakash Varma.

Taking to her Instagram Stories space, Lijomol wrote, "Watched Balan: The Boy today, and I'm still carrying it with me. This is easily one of the best films I've watched in recent times. Every performance felt honest, every moment felt earned, and the entire cast and crew deserve immense appreciation for what they've created."

Lijomol added, "A film that moved me, stayed with me, and reminded me why cinema matters. A must-watch."

Known for his blockbuster survival thriller Manjummel Boys, Chidambaram's new film has a cameo appearance from Tovino Thomas. It is written by Jithu Madhavan, as well as stars Premalu director Girish AD as a police officer.

Giving a strong recommendation for the film in theatres, Prakash Varma wrote, "Incredibly engaging. Crafted with care. Thoroughly enjoyed this one." On the other hand, Dinjith shared, " Brilliant casting.. Emotions. Well done Chidhu and team."

Meanwhile, Gouri Kishan said, "Chidambaram delivers again. Please y'all go watch Balan: The Boy in theatres."

On the technical front, the film has music by Sushin Shyam, cinematography by Shyju Khalid, editing by Vivek Harshan, and production design by Ajayan Chalissery.

The recently released trailer for the film impressed the audience with its subversive visuals, including a frame where a woman lies on bed with the titular boy and a gun in her hand. The Balan: The Boy trailer has already garnered around 70 lakh views on YouTube.
