After him missing out on some recent accolades, allegedly called 'major snubs' by his fans and general audiences, actor Mammootty has finally been recognised again at the National Film Awards for his performance in Bramayugam. Many have responded to the legendary actor's achievement, which comes hot on the heels of his recent Padma award win. Mohanlal shared on X, "Heartfelt congratulations to dear Ichakka on winning the National Award for Best Actor for Bramayugam. This is a moment of immense pride for all of us and a recognition that is truly well deserved."
Mohanlal also congratulated ARM singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, calling her National Award win "a beautiful tribute to her extraordinary talent." The legendary actor added, "I am equally delighted to see Shehnad Jalal being recognised for Best Cinematography and Feminichi Fathima being honoured as the Best Malayalam Film. Congratulations to director Fasil Muhammed and the entire team on this remarkable achievement."
While Shehnad Jalal won the award for his work in Bramayugam, Fasil Muhammed directed Feminichi Fathima.
Mohanlal also conveyed his wishes to Kartik Aaryan, who shared the Best Actor award alongside Mammootty for his performance in Chandu Champion, Yami Gautam for her win for Article 370, and Dhanush whose Raayan earned the Best Tamil film award.
"My congratulations as well to Kartik Aaryan, Yami Gautam, Dhanush, and to every artist, filmmaker, and technician honoured at the 72nd National Film Awards. It is always heartening to see the richness, diversity, and excellence of Indian cinema celebrated on such a prestigious platform. Congratulations to all the winners and best wishes for many more milestones ahead," Mohanlal signed off.
On the other hand, Kamal Haasan reflected on Mammootty's National Award for Bramayugam with his customary expression of humility. A long time ago, Kamal expressed his reservation for Mohanlal not winning the Best Actor award for his performance in Sadayam. He is known for saying, "I consider my two National Awards worthless, as Lal didn't get for Sadayam."
In a similar expression, the legendary actor said about Mammootty, "You once promised me you would overtake me in the number of National Awards. As always, you are a man of your word! Here's to many more accolades, my friend." In response, Mammootty shared, "Thank you, Kamal sir. You are being too modest. Truly humbled by your words."
Kamal also made a note of the other winners, including his team behind the epic film Kalki 2898 AD. "Congratulations as well to all the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards. Special congratulations to Nag Ashwin, Vyjayanthi Films and entire Kalki 2898 AD family. Indian cinema is richer because of your excellence," Kamal signed off.
