Actor Kamal Roy has passed away due to heart failure. The actor was 54 at the time of his passing, reported The Hindu.
The actor comes from a film family with his siblings being actors Urvashi, Kalpana, and Kalaranjini. His grandfather was Sooranad Kunjan Pillai, a writer, lexicographer, and a researcher who was a Padmashri awardee. Kamal Roy also had a brother, Prince, who was a part of the 1989 film, Layanam.
He has acted in films like Sayoojyam, Yuvajanolsavam, Anthapuram, Kolilakkom, Manju, Kingini, Leader, Vachalam, The King Maker, Shobanam, and Kalyana Soungandhikam.
But he is known for his project with Vinayan, Kalyana Sougandhikam. In his tribute to the actor, director Vinayan recalled how it was actor Sukumari who first told him about Kamal. It was then that Kamal was cast in Kalyana Sougandhikam.
Kamal also had a career in television, having appeared in serials. His role in Vinay Prasad's Sarada is the most notable amongst the lot.
The actor is survived by his wife and a son.
