Nivin Pauly is currently enjoying an emotional moment in his career as Sarvam Maya continues its extraordinary run at the box office. The film’s success marks his return to form after nearly six years, a period during which a series of setbacks had led to doubts about his standing as a box office draw. Released to packed theatres, Sarvam Maya entered the Rs 100 crore club within ten days, already becoming the biggest commercial success of Nivin’s career.
In an interview with Manorama Online, Nivin admitted that the scale of affection coming his way has taken him by surprise. “I never imagined that the love, care and emotional attachment people have towards me were this intense. I realise it when I read the messages sent by people I know and by complete strangers,” he said. The Premam actor also shared a deeply personal moment involving his mother after she watched the film in theatres. “After watching Sarvam Maya in the theatre, my mother called me and said, ‘Son, do people love you this much? Even I can’t believe it.’ This is not something I can take lightly. I stand with folded hands, not knowing how to repay this immense love and care from the audience. All I can do is move forward with them by making films that make them happy. That is my wish. I will never take the audience for granted again,” he said.
Reflecting on signs of this renewed connection with audiences, Nivin also spoke about his cameo appearance in Varshangalkku Shesham, which became one of the film’s biggest crowd-pleasing moments. “When I appeared for about 20 minutes in Varshangalkku Shesham, the response in theatres really surprised me. Despite a series of setbacks, it felt like audiences were still hoping for my return,” he recalled. He added that filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan had often reminded him of the space he holds in the hearts of viewers.
Written and directed by Akhil Sathyan, Sarvam Maya also reunites Nivin with Aju Varghese after several years. Riya Shibu plays the female lead, with Preity Mukhundhan, Janardhanan, Madhu Warrier and Raghunath Paleri appearing in key roles.
