The Nivin Pauly-starrer Sarvam Maya continues its strong box office run, having crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide within ten days of its release, as per the makers' official announcement on Sunday.
The film is also closing in on Rs 50 crore from the Kerala box office alone, according to multiple Malayalam box office trackers, including What The Fuss.
Written and directed by Akhil Sathyan, the film marks Nivin’s return to dominating the box office after a long hiatus. Sarvam Maya is reportedly the actor’s first film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark globally, and also his first to approach Rs 50 crore from Kerala alone.
A light-hearted coming-of-age horror comedy, the film follows an atheist from a dominant caste background, raised in close proximity to temples and rituals, whose life takes an unexpected turn after a supernatural encounter. What unfolds is a gentle, often funny exploration of belief, fear and finding a new sense of direction.
While Nivin’s return to an easy, boy-next-door space has been widely celebrated, one of the film’s biggest talking points has been Riya Shibu. Playing the Gen Z ghost Delulu, written with a deliberately cute, pookie energy, the breakout talent has emerged as one of Sarvam Maya’s biggest draws. Her performance has struck a chord across age groups, drawing younger audiences in droves while also winning over families and older viewers with its warmth and humour.
The film has been running to packed houses, fuelled by strong word of mouth. For many, Sarvam Maya feels like a reminder of the Nivin they first fell in love with during the early phase of his stardom after Thattathin Marayathu and Premam.
