Kalidas Jayaram, who had a theatrical release recently with the Malayalam film Ashakal Aayiram, shared his critical views of the Hindi film Param Sundari which released in August 2025. Produced under Maddock Films banner, Param Sundari starred Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead.

In a recent interview on the YouTube channel Irfan’s view, where he was appearing with his father Jayaram to promote his latest release, Kalidas said, “Param Sundari was that one bad film, which I have watched recently. I will say it openly — They made a mockery in their portrayal of our culture and traditions. That’s how I felt. It was terrible.

In Param Sundari, Janhvi played a Malayali woman who falls in love with a Punjabi entrepreneur. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the film is largely set in Kerala, hence making prominent use of local customs and cultural traditions as part of the narrative.

While the film performed decently at the box office, it receives strong criticism from many film-goers on social media, for its stereotypical portrayal of the Malayali community.

Kalidas is known for his work in films like Raayan, Vikram, and Natchathiram Nagargiradhu.
