The makers of the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer I’m Game have confirmed recent speculation surrounding the film’s release, announcing that the action thriller has been postponed by two weeks. Directed by RDX-fame Nahas Hidhayath, the upcoming film, which was earlier scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on August 20, will now release on September 3 instead.

On Thursday, updating social media with the new release date, the makers cited plans for a wider theatrical release across markets. “The game gets bigger. The release gets wider,” they said, while apologising for the delay and confirming that the film will now release simultaneously in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.

The makers added that the new date was chosen to give I’m Game the scale, reach and theatrical platform they believe the film deserves, allowing audiences across different markets to experience it on the big screen.

I’m Game marks Dulquer’s return to Malayalam cinema in a leading role after the 2023 gangster drama King of Kotha. In the upcoming film, the actor plays Dan John, a man deeply involved in gambling who believes in the algorithm behind the game rather than in luck. The film also features Antony Varghese, Tamil filmmaker Mysskin, Kathir, Kayadu Lohar and Samyuktha Viswanathan in key roles. Nahas has penned the story, with Bilal Moidu, Ismail Aboobacker and Sajeer Baba co-writing the screenplay. RDX writers Shahabas Rasheed and Aadarsh Sukumaran have penned the dialogues.

I’m Game has cinematography by Jimshi Khalid, music by Jakes Bejoy and editing by Chaman Chakko, with action choreographers Anbariv handling the stunts. The film is backed by Dulquer and Jom Varghese under the banner of Wayfarer Films.

The postponement takes I’m Game out of the Onam release race, which currently includes Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa and Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
