The makers of Dulquer Salmaan's highly-anticipated film I'm Game have finally dropped its first official trailer earlier this Thursday, after failing to release it last evening due to a technical glitch. In RDX director Nahas Hidhayath's film, Dulquer plays Dan John, a man who is deeply involved in the world of gambling and who believes more in the 'algorithm' behind gambling than in the luck factor. "I'm luck's worst habit," he declares about himself at one point in the I'm Game trailer, soon after his character can be seen letting out an expletive-laden rant to his colleagues in the gambling business.
Elsewhere, we see Dan John covered in blood as he desperately tries to take a phone call. At another place, Kayadu Lohar's character describes Dan as just her patient. And elsewhere, Dan says, "Never ever give up" and "I'm going to settle everyone," hinting at a revenge angle in the story.
The I'm Game trailer ends with a shot of Mysskin's antagonist asking someone, "Are you feeling sleepy?" The trailer suggests that Dan's involvement in the gambling universe earns the protagonist some enemies while taking him through a mentally torrid time, making it difficult for him to blur the lines between his professional life and personal life.
Interestingly, the I'm Game trailer does not offer a proper look at Antony Varghese's character in the film, hinting at an element of mystery surrounding it. It does show glimpses of Vinay Forrt, Kathir, and Samyuktha Viswanathan's characters in the upcoming film.
Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu, and Ismail Aboobacker have written the screenplay based on Nahas Hidhayath's story. The film has dialogues by Adarsh Sukumaran, Shabas Rasheed, and Sajeer Baba.
I'm Game promises to showcase Dulquer Salmaan in a rarely-seen avatar, marrying the actor's charisma and charm with a sense of vulnerability. It is worth noting that the actor explored similar shades in the Tamil film Kaantha and the Hindi film Chup: Revenge of the Artist, but his portrayal in the upcoming actioner suggests something unprecedented for him in Malayalam cinema terms. The film is set for an August 20 release in theatres worldwide. Meanwhile, here is a link to its trailer:
