Director Mahesh Narayanan's film Patriot is hitting theatres this Friday, and the film fraternity is eagerly looking forward to its release. According to reports, a vast majority of theatres in Kerala will play the film, which reunites Mohanlal and Mammootty following a long gap. Malayalam cinema came out of its box office lull with hits such as Aadu 3, Vaazha 2, and Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam recently. However, all eyes will be on the box office business of Patriot, as its massive success could prove beneficial for the industry at large.

Above all, fans and even the fraternity are eagerly awaiting the collaboration between Mohanlal and Mammootty. The two last shared the screen in 2013's Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, where Mohanlal played himself in a cameo. However, they starred in more important roles in the same film way back in 2008, which was director Joshiy's multistarrer Twenty:20.

Speaking about the film and its highly anticipated reunion through his Instagram Stories, Nivin Pauly wrote, "The last time they shared a screen, a generation grew up watching it on repeat. Eighteen years later, Mammookka and Lalettan are back together and Malayalam cinema is calling it a Magnum Opus for a reason.. Here's to Patriot. May the screens to be enough."

On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran took to his Instagram Stories, shared a poster for the film and wrote, "Wishing the entire team of this magnum opus the very best!" Notably, Prithviraj shared the screen with Mammootty in Pokkiri Raja, as well as with Mohanlal in the Lucifer franchise and Bro Daddy.

Further, the likes of Jude Anthany Joseph and B Unnikrishnan, among others, also conveyed their best wishes to the team behind the film, especially its producer Anto Joseph.

Besides the two Big M's of Malayalam cinema, the film stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathy, Rajiv Menon, Darshana Rajendran, and Grace Antony, among others.
