The makers of Varavu have unveiled a new character poster introducing Arjun Ashokan as Williams, a key role in the upcoming action thriller headlined by Joju George. Accompanying the poster was the caption: “Calm on the surface, chaos underneath.”

Directed by Shaji Kailas, Varavu marks the filmmaker’s first collaboration with Joju. The screenplay has been penned by A K Sajan, who has previously teamed up with Shaji on films such as Chinthamani Kolacase, Red Chillies, and Dhrona 2010, and has also written Joju’s Pulimada.

Set in the high ranges, Varavu revolves around Polachan, also known as Poly, a wealthy planter who returns to his homeland to confront long-standing rivalries and unfinished business. The film has a large ensemble cast including Vani Viswanath, Murali Gopy, Arjun Ashokan, Saniya Iyappan, Sukanya, Baburaj, Vincy Aloshious, Ashwin Kumar, Abhimanyu Thilakan, Biju Pappan, Bobby Kurian, Azees Nedumangad, Sreejith Ravi, Deepak Parambol, Kottayam Ramesh, Balaji Sharma, Chali Pala and Radhika Radhakrishnan.

While the makers had earlier announced May 1 as the theatrical release date, the situation now appears uncertain after the much-awaited Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, was subsequently slated for the same day.
