Actor Esther Anil is best known for her role as Mohanlal's onscreen daughter in the Drishyam franchise. She has been giving multiple interviews promoting the release of Drishyam 2 for the first time in theatres and that of the upcoming third film in the franchise.
After some of her interviews, Esther Anil has been facing some negativity from netizens. One user suggested that Esther is making a "hyper sexual show off" to let filmmakers know that she has grown up enough to be cast in lead roles. Under the comments section of the user's post, another user alleged that such actors share photographs showing off their physical beauty and criticise those who make negative comments about them.
Triggered by the comments, Esther hit back at the users. The actor rhetorically wrote, suggesting that she does not do these things for glamorous roles, "Can we please get over this whole 'tuni oorunathu role kittan aan' nonsense?"
She also questioned the logic behind the assertion that actresses in Malayalam cinema show off their bodies to land such roles. "Tell me, how many talented actresses in Malayalam cinema today got where they are by sexualising themselves on social media? None. And even if someone did, why should we care. Malayalam cinema still runs on talent and potential, not looks or nudity, haayyo."
According to Esther, users who spread these types of negativity do not have anything else to do in life. "Such people really have no life. What is wrong with you brother. Or maybe attention seeking behaviour to gain more followers. Haa enthelum aatte (let it be whatever it is)."
The actor ended her response by clarifying that she "was just in the mood to call this out today," unlike most other days. "I usually don't (call out such behaviour), but it felt fun."
