The Kerala box office has a brand new record holder. Debutant Savin SA’s Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros, fronted by social media stars including Hashir, Alan, Vinayak and Ajin, has officially become the highest-grossing film ever in the state, overtaking Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and also moving ahead of Mohanlal’s Thudarum.

The makers confirmed on Monday, Vaazha 2’s 26th day in cinemas, that the film had achieved the milestone within 25 days of release, celebrating the remarkable run with fans on social media. According to industry estimates, the second instalment has grossed around ₹122-123 crore in Kerala alone. It has also reportedly crossed 80 lakh admissions, underlining its huge popularity among family audiences and younger viewers alike. That footfall milestone makes Vaazha 2 only the third Malayalam film released since 2000 to sell more than 80 lakh tickets in Kerala, after Mohanlal-starrers Narasimham and Pulimurugan.

What makes the achievement even more striking is the Vaazha 2’s star cast. Unlike traditional industry hits led by established superstars, the film is powered by a younger generation of digital-era performers and creators, proving once again that audience connection and strong word of mouth can outweigh conventional star value.

The coming-of-age entertainer has enjoyed a dream theatrical run since its release, maintaining momentum well into its fourth week and drawing packed houses across Kerala. Its strong repeat audience support has been seen as a key factor behind the record-breaking numbers. With the Kerala crown now secured, attention turns to how far the film can go in the worldwide race, where it still has to surpass Thudarum, Manjummel Boys, L2: Empuraan, and Lokah to climb further up the all-time list.
