This Thursday marks the polling day in the Kerala elections. Many of the biggest film stars, including Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, appeared in voting booths to cast their votes earlier today. Some of them later took to public platforms and encouraged people of the state to vote, reminding them that it is their right and responsibility to do so. Talking to reporters, Mammootty asked everyone to cast their votes.

Taking to X, Mohanlal posted a picture of his finger with the voting mark and wrote, "Done my part. Your turn, Keralam go vote!" On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared a picture of his voting finger on Instagram and wrote, "Make it count." Tovino Thomas also had the same message to share with the rest of the people of Kerala as Prithviraj did.

Fahadh Faasil, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kunchacko Boban, Mamitha Baiju, Asif and his brother Askar Ali, Renji Panicker, Sathyan Anthikad, Nishanth Sagar, and many other film personalities also cast their votes.

Videos and pictures of these actors standing in queues to cast their votes are trending on social media. Some film stars are also contesting in elections for different parties at the Kerala elections this time around. For example, comedian-actor-director Ramesh Pisharody is a Congress candidate in Palakkad, whereas actor Anjali Nair is contesting in Thrippunithura for Twenty20, a coalition partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The results, determining who the 140 Legislative Assembly members will be, are set to be out on May 04, Monday.

Meanwhile, Malayalam cinema is set to have some big releases later this summer, starting with the Tovino Thomas starrer Pallichattambi and the Kunchacko Boban starrer Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil on Vishu. Films such as Drishyam 3, Patriot, and Athiradi are also slated for May releases.
