Actor Kalyani Priyadarshan has issued a clarification after a viral post falsely attributed a quote to her. On Monday, the handle Movies4u Official on X (formerly Twitter) posted a fabricated quote, presenting it as Kalyani’s own words.
The post claimed she had once said that Kalyani's parents made her and her brother stay in a Vietnamese orphanage to learn “the value of life.” Accompanied by her photograph, the post was widely circulated, gaining thousands of views and hundreds of retweets. It was deleted after the actor called it out.
Kalyani promptly replied to the original post on her official X account, stating, “I’ve never said this and it never happened :)”. She followed up with another message, urging, “So please stop spreading false news :)”.
The clarification comes as Kalyani basks in the blockbuster success of Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra, the highest-grossing Malayalam film worldwide. Her widely praised performance in the pan-Indian hit has propelled her into the national spotlight, extending her reach beyond Kerala and placing her firmly at the centre of online conversations.
Kalyani is the daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan and former actor Lissy Lakshmi. The couple, who married in 1990, divorced in 2016 after 26 years of marriage. Her brother Siddharth works as a visual effects supervisor.
