Director Dominic Arun has confirmed that the next instalment in the much-talked-about Lokah franchise is already in the works, and it will be centred around Tovino Thomas’ character, Chathan aka Micheal. Speaking to Rotalks for Just Too Filmy, Dominic said, “It’s about Chathan. The film is about that, for sure. An out-and-out Tovino Thomas film.”

Dominic hinted that the follow-up would explore themes rarely seen in Indian cinema. “It’s going to be magical. There’ll be a lot of illusions, a lot of trickery, and a lot of fun with Tovino Thomas in the film,” he shared. He also alluded that the third instalment will shift focus to Dulquer Salmaan’s character, Odiyan aka Charlie, ensuring each chapter brings a fresh perspective within the expanding universe.

Kalyani Priyadarshan, who played the titular lead in the first instalment of Lokah, confirmed that her character will also have a presence in the upcoming films. “Yes, you will see a little more of me. And I’m doing everything I can to be an even better fighter,” she added.

Actor-writer Santhy Balachandran, who co-wrote and served as dramaturgist, emphasised the joy of returning to the creative process. “After a point, what really excited us was the creative process… It’s important to go back to the drawing board and write something that excites people just as much,” she said.

With Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continuing its dream run at the box office, the announcement has added to the excitement of fans worldwide. The fantasy spectacle, produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, has already crossed ₹250 crore globally, making it only the second Malayalam film to achieve the milestone. Released on August 28, it reimagines one of the most celebrated Kerala folklores through a superhero lens, opening what is planned as a five-part cinematic universe.

With a rapidly growing fan base, all eyes are now on how Lokah will shape its expanding universe, with the second instalment promising more spectacle and surprises. And at the heart of the intrigue, fans are already speculating on how Mammootty’s enigmatic Moothon will weave his way through the chapters ahead.
