The makers of Vilaayath Budha, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much-delayed film, have announced that the first single from the project will be released on October 16 at 6 pm, marking the Aadujeevitham actor’s birthday. Composed by Jakes Bejoy, the track is expected to be a romantic number featuring Prithviraj alongside Priyamvada Krishnan.

Directed by Jayan Nambiar, a former associate of the late filmmaker Sachy, Vilaayath Budha is an adaptation of GR Indugopan’s acclaimed novel of the same name. The film is produced by Urvashi Theatres, with the screenplay co-written by Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan. The story revolves around a power struggle between Bhaskaran Master, portrayed by Shammy Thilakan, and his former protege Double Mohanan, played by Prithviraj, over the ownership of a sandalwood tree.

Launched in 2020, Vilaayath Budha began filming in October 2022 but faced multiple setbacks, including Prithviraj’s on-set injury during an action sequence in Marayoor, which required surgery and a three-month recovery period. The supporting cast includes Anu Mohan, Kottayam Ramesh, and Teejay Arunasalam. The technical crew includes Kantara cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, composer Jakes Bejoy, and editor Sreejith Sarang. Reports suggest that the film will hit theatres in November.
