After a long delay, Vijay's final film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, is finally set to hit theatres on July 23, Thursday. Earlier this Thursday, its producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions talked about the journey of the film following a complex censorship process. In an interview with NDTV, the producer revealed that they added 'Honourable Chief Minister Vijay' to the recent poster for the film after multiple requests from the superstar-turned-CM's fans and other, general audiences.
He also said that there have been multiple changes to the film from when it was originally submitted for censorship to now, including new songs. For example, Venkat revealed that a reference to Vijay's party TVK has been added to the film.
The filmmaker also reflected on Vijay's popularity among the masses, saying that the audience in Tamil Nadu views him as one of them and watches his films without looking at reviews.
"They all feel that he is their family member. His work in every film is beyond review, rating, or criticism. The audience goes to his films to celebrate him. He is purely an emotional for the people of Tamil Nadu and beyond," the Jana Nayagan producer revealed.
He added that they are planning a large-scale global release for the film across more than 30 nations, with "over 7,000 to 8,000 screens" being eyed.
After KVN Productions announced the Jana Nayagan release date on Wednesday, makers of some other films in Tamil have changed the previously-planned release dates for them. GV Prakash and Kayadu Lohar's Immortal changed its release date from July 23 to September 04, whereas director Arun Matheswaran's DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj-Wamiqa Gabbi, pushed the film from July 31 to August 07, Friday. More films are expected to change their release dates in the coming days to avoid a clash with the Vijay starrer.
