In a recent Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) episode, Mohanlal made a special appearance through a video to wish the show's host and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on his birthday. In the video, Mohanlal described Amitabh as "an endless source of inspiration" and mentioned the latter's "discipline, humility and strength" as "qualities that the world continues to learn from". He went on to add, "Every interaction with you reminds me of how much there is to absorb from your journey and your grace. May you be blessed with health and happiness always. With love and deepest respect."

In an interview dating back around 15 years, Amitabh expressed his admiration for Mohanlal, calling him "one of the finest actors in the country" and a "relaxed and effortless" performer. The other day, Amitabh doubled down on his praise for Mohanlal as he replied to the latter's birthday wish for him. The moment the video ended, the camera cut to Amitabh sitting in the KBC house with guests Farhan and Javed Akhtar. "Thank you so much Mohanlal ji," he said. He then reminded Farhan and Javed that Mohanlal recently won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Javed interjected the conversation by saying that Mohanlal's award is "well deserved". Then, referring to Mohanlal, Amitabh said, "He is such a great actor. Whichever role you give him, his face is God gifted. Every kind of emotion comes just by putting his face. He does not have to do anything, and it comes through correctly."

Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal worked together in films such as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and Kandahar.
