The phenomenal run of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra shows no signs of slowing down. According to industry trackers like What The Fuss, the fantasy epic has surpassed the lifetime gross of the Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever in Kerala.
As per reports, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer has earned an impressive ₹119.06 crore from 39 days in Kerala alone. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the first instalment in this planned five-part franchise continues to break records and redefine box office benchmarks for Malayalam cinema.
Released just over a month ago, the film has been a massive crowd-puller across the state and beyond, celebrated for its ambitious storytelling, visual grandeur, and rooted cultural themes. With its worldwide collection now inching close to the ₹300-crore mark from theatrical earnings alone, Lokah is on the verge of creating yet another historic milestone as the first Malayalam film to join the elite 300-crore club.
Lokah also stars Naslen and Sandy, with cameos by Dulquer and Tovino Thomas. Santhy Balachandran contributed to the screenplay and dramaturgy, while the film’s technical finesse comes from cinematographer Nimish Ravi, composer Jakes Bejoy, editor Chaman Chakko, and production designer Banglan.
The next instalment in the Lokah universe will revolve around Tovino’s character Chathan/Michael, promising to take the saga forward on an even larger canvas.
