Actor Keerthy Suresh, who stars in the latest film Revolver Rita, recently spoke about the impact that Kalyani Priyadarshan and Dominic Arun's industry hit Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra had on her. Speaking to Sudhir Srinivasan, Keerthy said that she loved the film and that its adaptation of the Kalliyankattu Neeli character from Kerala's folklore caught her by surprise. "Not in your wildest dream you are thinking that she is that person," Keerthy said about Kalyani's version of Kalliyankattu Neeli in the film. For the uninitiated, Lokah subverted the traditional Yakshi character from folklore into a superhero, who uses her fangs and super powers to protect herself and others around her. "The kick about that film for me was that it brought Neeli into a contemporary vampire zone. The thought of it is amazing," the Revolver Rita actor said.

In our Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra movie review, Vivek Santhosh called the film "a blazing reimagination of a home-grown world of myth." The review further added, "Lokah’s most arresting passage comes with the unveiling of Chandra’s real identity, staged like a dark fairytale. In this sequence, familiar folklore is invoked but twisted in a way that feels daring and unexpected."
